A warm welcome

About

Hello and a very warm welcome to AK Therapy Space - a space where you are free to explore, learn, and grow. I am honoured that you might be considering working together. My name is Aukse (she/her), which is of Lithuanian origin and is pronounced as ‘owk-seh’. I made the UK my lovely home over a decade ago, having previously lived in the Netherlands and Peru.

I am a qualified, BACP-registered and neurodiversity-affirming integrative psychotherapist, which means that I draw from different modalities (person-centred, psychodynamic, and CBT) to best suit your individual circumstances.

I hold a COSCA-accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy working with adults, children, and young people from S.M.I.L.E training, counselling skills certificate from COSCA, working in a trauma- informed way from the NHS. I am comitted to ongoing learning and keeping my skills up to date by regularly undertaking continuous professional development. In addition, I have lived experience of being on a journey of my own and understand what it can feel like to seek support.

My previous work includes over seven years of experience working in a community setting, supporting autistic individuals of all ages and those with mental health struggles to secure paid work. I also co-managed the service for the last three of those years.

The client groups I work with are young people (18+) and adults. Therapy sessions can take place online via Google Meet, Whatsapp, or Telephone.

The session fee is £50 for a 50 minute session.

*To assess our mutual suitability for working together, I offer an initial assessment session of 50 minutes at a cost of £25. This allows us to get a feel for each other, understand what brings you to therapy and answer any questions that you might have prior to starting to work together.

My current availability is Thursday evenings at 6pm and 7.15pm.

My approach

Through my work, I aim to offer a safe, inclusive, and person-centred space where you can speak openly and feel supported as we explore what matters to you the most.

A belief that we are the best experts on our circumstances guides my practise. In the therapy space, this might look like us working as a team to understand what brings you to therapy and, through our work together, beginning to explore solutions that may feel right for you.

As no two people are the same, your circumstances and potential resolutions will be very unique to you.

For some, this might involve exploring your earliest relationships and how they shape your life today (developmental work, attachment theory, schema work).

For others, it may involve processing difficult experiences (loss, trauma, abuse, and others) at your own time and pace (person-centred work).

It may also involve understanding how your thoughts and behaviours affect your quality of life and coming up with solutions to change what is important to you (CBT).

At times, I may also offer insights learned in my own journey where it feels appropriate and I feel like it might benefit you in any way.

What I work with

Addiction | Anger management | Anxiety | Bereavement | Bullying | Burnout | Conflict resolution | Depression | Divorce | Identity issues | Interculturality | Loss | OCD | Postnatal depression | Relationships | Trauma | Workplace stress
